Tauranga City Council

Tauranga City Council first worked with Lynley Hancox in 2006 on the launch of the Tauranga Safe City project. Lynley assisted in gaining sponsorship for the event and organising schools to participate making the launch a vibrant success.
The next project Lynley assisted with was the development of a resource called the 'Parent Pack - tools for the teenage years'. This project involved many partners with the shared desire to get information to parents on some of the challenges teenagers face and where support can be found. Lynley brought genuine enthusiasm to the project and a desire to make sure the information had the best chance possible of connecting with our target audience. This resulted in a well designed resource with excellent content being delivered into every single house in Tauranga - a huge success.
The next challenge for the Safe City team was to devise a campaign to raise awareness on family violence linking into a national campaign. Within the first meeting a creative concept was born. The team made links to the upcoming rugby world cup, the fact that family violence statistics are higher around large sporting events and then used the event as a vehicle to get some key messages out. The campaign was called "Blow the whistle on violence" and used positive images to reinforce family values. Many tools were created from newspaper ads, radio ads, whistles which were given out at rugby games and beer mats used in rugby clubs and bars. The campaign was well received in the community and recently won a New Zealand Safety Award.
If I were to sum up the efforts of Lynley and her team it would be creative, enthusiastic, professional.
